Route 1 Project Weekly Update (6-10-14)

FALMOUTH ROUTE ONE INFRASTRUCTURE PROJECT

Construction Update #5, June 10, 2014

The following information reflects what you are likely to see on Route One in Falmouth in the upcoming seven days. Please note that this is a projection based on the best available information at the time that it was sent and is subject to change due to weather and other variables.

WORK HOURS:

For the next seven days, crews are expected to work from 6:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. weekdays. No weekend or overnight work is expected during the period.

WORK CURRENTLY UNDERWAY:

As of Tuesday, June 10, work is occurring in various locations:

  • In front of Morong Falmouth, the installation of an electrical manhole;
  • In front of Falmouth Station, the installation of the underground conduit for power and communications.

WORK YOU MAY SEE IN THE UPCOMING WEEK:

Moulison North, the sub-contractor who is installing the underground conduit, will continue installing underground conduits and manholes near Morong Falmouth and TD Bank.

Conduit work at the TD Bank entrance will occur tentatively on Tuesday, June 17.  Access will be maintained throughout construction.

Sargent Corp. will be performing the following work:

  • Begin construction of the sidewalks where the underground conduit has already been installed.  This will be in the vicinity of the following businesses:  Falmouth Physical Therapy, People’s United Bank, and Falmouth Station.
  • Relocating an existing fire hydrant at Bangor Savings/Ace Hardware this  week.
  • Storm drainage work near Wendy’s starting next week.

OTHER ITEMS:

The Town is continuing the process of requesting temporary easements from various property owners within the project area.  Responses from property owners and businesses with lease agreements have been quick and very positive.  These easements will allow for smooth transitions from the new multi-use sidewalk to the lawn/landscaping/parking lot areas within the properties.

PHOTOGRAPHS:

In this photo, we see a crew from Moulison North Electrical Contractors installing the conduit bank. These lines will carry electrical, phone, and communication services. Once these lines are fully installed, energized, and connected with Route One businesses, overhead electrical and data lines will be removed, creating a much more attractive streetscape.

Here, crews have buried the first sections of the communications conduit, and are grading and compacting the backfilled area so that the new sidewalk can be installed.
