Route 1 Project - Weekly Update (9-23-14)

FALMOUTH ROUTE ONE INFRASTRUCTURE PROJECT

Construction Update #22, September 23, 2014

The following information reflects what you’re likely to see on Route One in Falmouth in the upcoming seven days. Please note that this is a projection based on the best available information at the time that it was sent and is subject to change due to weather and other variables.

WORK HOURS:

Generally, work in the Route One Infrastructure Project zone for the remainder of this week and into next will begin at approximately 6:00 a.m. and last until approximately 6:00 p.m. Some paving operations may start as early as a 3:00 A.M to minimize business and traffic disruption.

GENERAL OVERVIEW:

There are multiple work zones within the project area. Much of the work is on Depot Road, with additional work occurring between Waldo’s and Falmouth Veterinary Clinic. You can expect to see work on Depot Road for the remainder of the week, including paving work.

WORK CURRENTLY UNDERWAY:

As of Tuesday, September 23, crews were working on – or completed – the following:

  • Most cross trenches on Route One have been paved.
  • The force main on Clearwater Drive is complete and has been pressure tested for quality control.
  • The Clearwater Drive trenches have been paved.
  • Bucknam Road trenches have been paved.
  • Installation of traffic signal conduits at the Route 1 and Clearwater Drive intersection.
  • Construction of the shared access drive between Waldo’s and Falmouth Veterinary Clinic.
  • Underground telephone conduit installation on Depot Road.

WORK YOU’RE LIKELY TO SEE IN THE UPCOMING SEVEN DAYS:

  • On Tuesday, paving will occur at the shared access drive at Falmouth Veterinary and Waldo’s. Sargent Corp. will then work to reroute the business traffic onto the new alignment, and begin closing the existing entrances off to traffic.
  • On Tuesday, Moulison North will work on Depot Road. Underground conduit for Fairpoint Communications will continue until Monday of next week.
  • On Tuesday, crews working at the Route 1/Clearwater Drive intersection will install traffic signal conduit for new traffic signals.  Work will continue until Friday at this location.
  • On Wednesday, there will be a continuation of Depot Road conduit installation.
  • On Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday, Sargent Corp. will be installing curbing and preparing gravel at driveway aprons, in anticipation of paving these aprons early next week.
  • Paving operations will continue intermittently this week.
  • Utility poles will be installed at each terminus of the project.  This is where Central Maine Power’s overhead utility meets the new underground conduits.
