Route One Project - Weekly Update (9-8-15)

FALMOUTH ROUTE ONE INFRASTRUCTURE PROJECT

Construction Update #52 – September 8, 2015

The following information reflects the latest available information regarding the Route One Infrastructure Project in Falmouth. Please note that forward-looking information is based upon projections and is subject to change due to weather and other variables.

WORK HOURS:

Work in the Route One Infrastructure Project zone this week will begin at approximately 6:30 a.m. and last until approximately 4:30 p.m.  No night work is anticipated in the next two weeks.

GENERAL OVERVIEW:

We’re almost done!

With the exception of some modest landscaping work and a bit of electrical fine tuning, the last two weeks have been quiet along the corridor. Things pick back up later this week. Although a few things (such as audible ADA signals at crosswalks and re-planting of shade trees) will come later this autumn and next spring, the project should be essentially complete by next weekend.

Please note that we’re still fine-tuning the timing on the traffic signals at the Bucknam Road intersection.

To all business owners, employees, commuters and residents who’ve been so patient while the project was underway: please accept our thanks for your patience. We hope you agree that it was worth it.

WORK YOU’RE LIKELY TO SEE THROUGH FRIDAY AFTERNOON:

Landscape crews will begin prepping roadway islands for planting on Wednesday.
Crews from Focal Point (a subcontractor) will begin final prep of biofilters on Wednesday.
Planting in the center islands is scheduled to begin Thursday and Friday. Crews will utilize the center lane for this work, so no significant traffic disruption is anticipated.
Pavement stamping around the islands is scheduled to begin on Friday. This process involves laying down a sheet of high-tech colored plastic fabric, laying down a grid of cables, heating the asphalt and pressing it. The finished result looks like brickwork.
Continued minor punch-list items.

WORK YOU’RE LIKELY TO SEE NEXT WEEK

Continued planting in the islands. Weather permitting, this work should be completed by next Wednesday.
Planting in the biofilters. This work should also wrap next Wednesday, weather permitting.
Continued asphalt stamping. This work should be complete next Wednesday, weather permitting.
Additional landscaping work, including the replacement of several of the shade trees (most of the rest are doing fine, by the way) and weeding/reseeding of some areas along the sidewalks.
Installation of the banner poles at the south end of the project zone, near Simply Home (scheduled for Thursday or Friday).
Cleaning of stormwater runoff catch basins (Thursday and Friday).
Continued punch-list items.
