Climate Action Planning Committee (Ad-Hoc)
To support the 2021-2022 Falmouth Climate Action Planning Process, the Town Council has established an Ad-Hoc Climate Action Planning Committee.
The Committee shall:
- Oversee the development of the Falmouth Climate Action Plan with the assistance of Town staff and the Greater Portland Council of Governments Sustainability staff.
- The Climate Action Plan will:
- Assess community vulnerabilities,
- Update the community-wide greenhouse gas inventory,
- Address resident needs as determined through the vulnerability assessment and community engagement,
- Assist the Town Council to develop a vision and prioritize targets for climate mitigation and adaption, and
- Recommend a strategic plan to achieve those targets, including implementation steps and funding requirements.
- The Climate Action Plan will:
- Provide its recommendations to the Town Council.
Membership
- Up to nine (9) members will be appointed by the Council, a majority of whom shall be residents of Falmouth and serve without pay.
- All members shall be voting members.
- A quorum required to do business shall be majority of the number of members appointed by the Council, but never less than four (4).
- The committee may have representation from some, or all, of the following:
- Recycling and Energy Advisory Committee
- Conservation Commission
- Housing / Development / Architecture
- Land Conservation
- Climate / Environmental Science
- Business Community
- Transportation
- Agriculture / Aquaculture / Food Systems
