It's On!  The Battle of the Blueberry Baking Contest 

What's an old-fashioned Old Home Days festival without a baking contest?  Join us for this intense, once-in-300-years competition to determine the best blueberry baking baker in Falmouth, Maine, and possibly the world!

Regristration Deadline:  5:00pm, Thursday, May 24

Rules & other important stuff

1. Awards will be given in both Amateur & Professional Divisions.  Chefs, Cooks, or Culinary Arts Students must register as Professionals.

2.  ALL ENTRIES MUST HAVE THE RECIPE ATTACHED OR IT WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED.

2.  Limit 2 total entries per contestant.

3.  Submissions must be home cooked, NOT store bought or made from a pre-packaged mix.

4.  Submission Categories:

  • Baked Goods (muffins, pies, crumbles, buckles, etc.)
  • Jams, Preserves, Jellies

5.  Do not submit items requiring refrigeration.

6.  All submissions will become property of Falmouth300.  Use a disposable plate, tray, or container for submissions.  Provide enough for three judges to adequately taste and judge your item.  

7.  Contestants may work individually or with a team. (Prizes will be awarded to 1 member/team only, NOT each individual.)

Contest Day, Saturday, May 26, 2018

Check-in is from at 10:00-12:00 PM in the Falmouth300 Tent (Falmouth300 Store & Exhibit) at the Falmouth Fest and Old Home Days event at Community Park, off Winn Road. 

The Scoring System

  • Each contestant will be assigned a number for judging.
  • Submissions will be judged on a scale of 1-10, 10 being the highest.
  • Judging will be on taste, texture, and appearance.
  • The contestant with the highest score will be the winner.
  • Judges determinations are final.

Prizes

The finalists from the Amateur Division will have their recipe published on the Falmouth300 website. The Grand Prize winner in the Amateur Division will win a $100 gift card from Stonewall Bakery.  Second Place winner will receive a Falmouth300 T-shirt.  The finalist from the Professional Division will have their name/bakery/restaurant/business featured with their winning recipe on the Falmouth300 website as well as bragging rights in the form of a certificate to post at their business.

PRIZES WILL BE ANNOUNCED THE DAY OF THE CONTEST at 2:00pm
