Check out how the town of Falmouth—its schools, businesses, and service organizations—are marking Falmouth’s 300th anniversary through long-lasting and visionary Legacy Projects, which will benefit our community well beyond 2018.

Town of Falmouth:  Stories of Falmouth History Project

The History Sub-Committee of Falmouth’s Ad-Hoc Tercentennial Planning Committee is hard at work in creating a multi-layered project that will showcase Falmouth’s rich history in a variety of mediums.   Research is underway on a new book exploring the history of Falmouth from its inception in 1718 through 2018.  This beautifully produced, image rich, and informative book will be available for sale in 2018.  In addition, a self-guided tour of Falmouth historic sites is under development as is a travelling exhibit on Falmouth history, which will debut in time for the Tercentennial.

Falmouth Historical Society Digitization Project

Housed in the collections of Falmouth Historical Society are hundreds of images, newspaper clippings , artifacts and other items of historical significance.  Newly moved to their museum on Woods Road, volunteer society members are in the process of indexing and digitizing these artifacts using an archival accessioning software to ensure their preservation for future generations.  Join them in their efforts.

Falmouth Memorial Library Expansion Campaign

Dedicated as a memorial library in 1952, the Falmouth Memorial Library is in the middle of a Capital Campaign expansion project to add 8000+ additional square feet to its 70 year-old structure, making it a modern, state-of-art facility for future generations of Falmouth residents.

Town of Falmouth:  Mural Project

Hanging on the first floor of Town Hall, the “Falmouth Mural” is one of the Town’s best mysteries.  Where did it come from? Who painted it?  Where did it originally hang?  Plans are underway to conserve and restore this beautiful representational map of Falmouth’s History which dates to the 1930s.  Organizers will also create a companion book showcasing the murals artwork and Falmouth’s history.

Town Landing Interpretive Panels

Two permanent interpretive panels are under development for placement at Town Landing providing information and a historic overview to visitors.  The panels will be installed in summer 2018.
