Overview

Falmouth is located just north of Portland on the coast of Maine. It has a population of approximately 12,000 people, and covers about 32 square miles from the coastline to rural areas further inland. It is a vibrant, independent town that provides most services to citizens itself; cooperative agreements with regional agencies and neighboring communities help to round out a full program of services. Attractions in Falmouth include the local harbor and town landing, newly renovated public library, indoor and outdoor ice skating facilities, shopping, many parks, hiking trails, and recreational facilities, 3 golf courses, and a medical center.

Annual Events

A Memorial Day Parade is held each year in partnership with the American Legion. The parade begins at the Legion and concludes at Pine Grove Preserve on Route 88.

Falmouth Parks & Community Programs hosts Concerts in the Park on Monday's in the summer. Concert goers bring their lawn chairs and picnics to Village Park to enjoy the music and ice cream.

A free Community Supper is offered the third Thursday of October by Falmouth's church community. Donations at this event fund operation of the Falmouth Food Pantry. 

The Town of Falmouth, in partnership with community organizations, hosts Very Merry Falmouth each year beginning the Thursday after Thanksgiving with the annual tree lighting. Fireworks and a family-friendly party on Friday evening draw large crowds of all ages. A road race and other fun outdoor activities on Saturday round out this annual community event. 

The Ugly Sweater 5K and Merry Mile holiday hustle down Route 1 is held every year during Very Merry Falmouth to benefit Falmouth Memorial Library.
