The Land Management & Acquisition Committee was created in 2013 by the Council to replace the Open Space Subcommittee and to serve the Council in the implementation of the The Greening of Falmouth, the 2006 adopted open space plan that describes a 100-year vision and action plan for Falmouth. In November 2007, voters approved $5,000,000 over the next ten years to fund the acquisition of open space. The committee is staffed by the Open Space Manager, a part-time position in the Parks and Community Programs Department.
Right: The East Branch of the Piscataqua River joins the Presumpscot River at the northeast corner of the Town's River Point property. Just above it is the confluence of the West Branch. Access these rivers via hand carry boat launches at Woodville, Field, Falmouth and Blackstrap Roads. Put your canoe in at the Blackstrap Road landing and enjoy a great paddle on all three rivers. Keep your eye out for eagles, ospreys, turtles and lots of songbirds.
