Land Management & Acquisitions Committee
The Land Management & Acquisition Committee was created in 2013 by the Council to replace the Open Space Subcommittee and to serve the Council in the implementation of the 2018 Open Space Plan. In November 2007, voters approved $5,000,000 over the next ten years to fund the acquisition of open space. The committee is staffed by the Open Space Manager and Property Steward, both part-time positions in the Parks and Community Programs Department and the Parks and Community Programs Director. Email Open Space staff here. You may also reach the Open Space office at 207.699.5312. As both positions are part time it may be several days before a call is returned.
The committee is a standing committee of five (5) members appointed by the Town Council and made up of five (5) citizens of the town that serve without pay for three (3) year terms. The Executive Director of the Falmouth Land Trust sits as an ex-officio member. The Code of Ordinances state that LMAC should include citizens with an interest and/or experience in land management, conservation and recreation, such interest and experience could include but not be limited to: members or former members of the conservation commission; the town land trust; trail and land maintenance volunteers; trail recreational use clubs or organizations; forestry management professionals; biologists; ecologists; and real estate professionals.
The committee normally meets on the second Tuesday of the month but may not meet every month. If no agenda and minutes are posted there was no meeting held. Meetings scheduled with no quorum will be noted as canceled.
