Summary
Public Hearing on amendments to Division II-19-1-2 and Division II-19-1-3, Sections 19-11, 19-13, 19-14, and 19-19, of the Code of Ordinances relative to kennels.

Description
One of the Council Work Plan items delegated to the Community Development Committee (CDC) this year was to "review and possibly amend standards for kennels." The CDC reviewed this matter and developed recommendations for ordinance amendments which are further explained in the attached summary memo. These proposed amendments would amend the ordinance definition of "kennel" and expand the number of zoning districts in which kennels are allowed as a conditional use.
These amendments were presented to the Council for a concept discussion at the Council's January 27, 2020 meeting. At the meeting, the Council indicated support for the CDC's recommended ordinance amendments and authorized staff to being drafting amendments for a formal introduction. These amendments were introduced at the February 10, 2020 Council meeting. The Planning Board MRA hearing was held on March 3, 2020.
