Summary
Ordinance to amend the Code of Ordinances Division II-19-1-2 and Division II-19-1-3, Sections 19-11, 19-13, 19-14, and 19-19 relative to kennels.
A public comment period will not be included with this item as public comment was taken at an earlier date.

Description
One of the Council Work Plan items delegated to the CDC this year was to “review and possibly amend standards for kennels”. The CDC reviewed this matter and developed recommendations for ordinance amendments which are further explained in the attached summary memo. These proposed amendments would amend the ordinance definition of “kennel” and expand the number of zoning districts in which kennels are allowed as a conditional use.
These amendments were presented to the Council for a concept discussion at the Council’s 1/27/2020 meeting. At that meeting, the Council indicated support for the CDC’s recommended ordinance amendments and authorized staff to begin drafting amendments for a formal introduction. These amendments were introduced at the 2/10/2020 Council meeting. The Planning Board MRA public hearing was held on 3/3/2020 and the Council’s public hearing was held on 3/9/2020.
