Program highlights obstacles for those in recovery:Finding jobs, housing, transportation

A presentation on obstacles facing those in recovery from substance use disorder will be offered Sunday, June 9 by the Episcopal Church of Saint Mary in Falmouth, the third presentation in its educational series on the opioid crisis. The church’s series is connected to the Town of Falmouth’s efforts to educate residents – adults and children -- on the serious epidemic of addiction affecting the town and the nation.

The June program is entitled “Overcoming Obstacles In Recovery: Jobs, Housing and More,” featuring Margo Walsh, the Falmouth founder and owner of MaineWorks. The company focuses on finding jobs for convicted felons, many of whom suffer from substance use disorder as well. The organizers of the opioid series hope the program will inspire business owners as well as the greater community to help people in recovery rather than stigmatize them.

The event will be held from 4-6 p.m. at the church at 43 Foreside Road.
