In 2006, the Town Council adopted The Greening of Falmouth, an open space plan that describes a 100-year vision for our community and an action plan for reaching it. At the same time, the Council created the Open Space Implementation Committee, a subcommittee of the Conservation Commission, and provided funding to hire a part-time open space ombudsman as staff to the group. In November 2007, voters approved $5,000,000 over the next ten years to fund the acquisition of open space. In 2013, the Land Management & Acquisition Committee was created by the Council to replace the Open Space Subcommitee.
Right: The East Branch of the Piscataqua River joins the Presumpscot River at the northeast corner of the Town's River Point property. Just above it is the confluence of the West Branch. Access these rivers via hand carry boat launches at Woodville, Field, Falmouth and Blackstrap Roads. Put your canoe in at the Blackstrap Road landing and enjoy a great paddle on all three rivers. Keep your eye out for eagles, ospreys, turtles and lots of songbirds.
