Route 1 Project - Weekly Update (7-1-14)

Construction Update #8, July 1, 2014

The following information reflects what you are likely to see on Route One in Falmouth in the upcoming seven days. Please note that this is a projection based on the best available information at the time that it was sent and is subject to change due to weather and other variables.

WORK HOURS:

For the next seven days, crews are expected to work multiple shifts and hours, including night work. This will include from 6:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. weekdays, and 6:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. during the evenings. No weekend or holiday work is expected during the period.

So that you may plan ahead: night work for some road crossings will begin on the evening of Monday, July 7 and will continue for the next two weeks. During this period, alternating one-way traffic will be required in all locations. You may expect to see intermittent delays during the evening and overnight hours for the weeks of July 7 and July 14.

Two-way traffic will be restored during daytime operations, which will continue during this period on its normal schedule. At the end of this week, weather permitting, areas where road openings occurred (on Route One, and on cross streets and driveways impacted by construction) will be repaved.

One of the features of the project is improved pedestrian lighting. Attractive light fixtures will be placed every 100’ or so along the project area. This week, Moulison North is beginning to install the base fixtures for them. Here are three of them ready to go.

Here’s a base fixture installed – with wiring already in place. This unit is just south of Waldo’s, on the west side of Route One.

This is a plan detail of what the pedestrian lighting fixtures will look like.
