Description

In August 2014 the Town notified the Federal Roadroad Adminstration (FRA) and other parties of its intent to designate the Woodville and Field Road rail crossings as a so-called "Quiet Zone." This means that trains will be prohibited from sounding their horns when approaching these crossings. FRA rules dictate that any private crossings that are located between these two public crossings must be included in the Quiet Zone and that specific signage is required to be installed at that crossing.

One private farm crossing exists between Woodville and Field Road. This crossing is currently used by David Gagnon. The Ann R. Gagnon Living Trust has given the Town permission through an easement deed to access the Gagnon property and install and maintain any signage associated with the Quiet Zone. This easement will be in effect as long as the Town is required to maintain this signage as part of the Quiet Zone.
