Summary
Public Hearing on a proposed amendment to the Code of Ordinances to provide an exemption from vehicle excise tax to eligible active duty military personnel .
A public comment period will be included with this item (5 minutes).
ACTION: Schedule order.
Description
The Town currently offers an exemption to excise taxes to eligible, active duty military who live in Falmouth and are stationed in the State of Maine. The state legislature changed the law in 2012 to allow for the exemption to be offered those stationed outside the state as well.
Adoption of the attached ordinance would be necessary for the town to offer this exemption. MMA has provided the sample language that is attached.
