Summary
Discussion and update from the Tercentennial Committee regarding the development of a plan to celebrate the 300th anniversary of the Town’s incorporation and an Order to authorize the expenditure of money to support the planning efforts, such funding to be available through TIF district development plans.
A public comment period will be included with this item (3 minutes).

Description
The Town Council established an ad hoc Tercentennial Committee in 2015. The Committee has developed an update that focuses on the Town Council charge to the Committee, public input process, listing of possible events, promotion/branding/marketing, budget parameters, and required resources to support a celebration of the Town’s incorporation. A copy of the report is attached.
The Committee and staff liaisons recommend that a hired professional will be necessary to coordinate event planning, volunteers, and all other aspects of this important celebration, and that this staffing support should begin immediately. The Committee therefore requests the Council authorize up to $25,000 to be spent this fiscal year out of the TIF district development plans in order to retain qualified professional support.
