Summary
Ordinance to amend the Zoning and Site Plan Review Ordinance to permit off-premise signs in the Business Professional District where access to a lot is located off-premise.
A public comment period will not be included with this item as public comment was taken at an earlier date.

Description
The current ordinance prohibits off-premise signs in the BP District but allows them in other districts as long as they are associated with access to the property. Staff have prepared an amendment to allow off-premise signs where access to a property is located off-premise. This will serve the town’s interest in providing adequate visibility for the business community and protecting the town’s visual character.
At its April 5, 2016, meeting the Planning Board, acting as the Town’s designated Municipal Reviewing Authority, held a public hearing on the proposed amendment. A memo from Town Staff detailing that hearing is attached.
Attached are a letter of introduction from Councilor McBrady, the proposed amendment language, and a memo from town staff.
