Summary

Order to authorize the Town Manager to execute a purchase and sales agreement to purchase five acres of land between the School Campus and Community Park, such property to be used for future connectivity between the two publicly owned properties.

A public comment period will be included with this item (3 minutes).

ACTION: Council action is anticipated.

Description

The Town Council appointed the Ad hoc Community Park Connector Committee in 2014. Since that time, the Committee has studied options to connect the School Campus and Community Park, including a railroad crossing in an undeveloped area that would require the construction of a bridge or tunnel. The Committee reported its findings to the Town Council at the January 23, 2107 meeting. The Town Council also met in executive session on January 23, 2017 to give the Town Manager authority to negotiate terms to purchase 5 acres near the river and RR crossing which will provide for future options to cross both locations.
