Construction Update #16 – July 3, 2019

The following information reflects the latest available information regarding the Route 100 Project in Falmouth. Please note that forward-looking information is based upon projections and is subject to change due to weather and other variables.

 

WORK HOURS:

Work in the Route 100 Project zone for the remainder of this week will begin at approximately 6:00 a.m. and last until approximately 5:00 p.m.; No after-hour or overnight work is expected.

No work will occur on Thursday, July 4th, or on Friday, July 5th.

 

GENERAL OVERVIEW:

  • This communication is almost identical to last week’s update: more sewer and storm drain installations.
  • Traffic impacts are currently minimal, with one-lane alternating traffic occurring throughout most of the working/daytime hours.
  • No road closures are anticipated over the next few weeks.

 

WORK CURRENTLY UNDERWAY:

As of Wednesday, July 3rd, crews were working on – or have completed – the following:

  • Shaw Brothers are installing new Sewer System Infrastructure on Gray Road near Marston Street and Leighton Road.
  • Shaw Brothers are installing new Storm Drain System Infrastructure on Gray Road between Mill Road and Mountain Road.
  • Consolidated Communications are nearing completion of the removal of their old communication lines from the old utility poles.

 

WORK YOU’RE LIKELY TO SEE NEXT WEEK:

  • Traffic:
    • Leighton Road intersection: Traffic signals will be turned off during construction activities near the intersection. The intersections will be controlled by multiple flaggers during periods when construction is close to the intersection.
    • Single-Lane Closures for various utility work will begin at 6:00 AM next week.

Motorists are encouraged to seek alternate routes during the peak/commuting hours.

  • The speed limit remains reduced to 25 Miles-Per-Hour within the work zone areas.

 

  • Shaw Brothers will continue installing new sewer system infrastructure on Gray Road near the Leighton Road intersection. 
  • Shaw Brothers will continue installing new storm drain system infrastructure on Gray Road between Mountain Road and Mill Road.
  • Consolidated Communications (formerly Fairpoint Communications) will complete the removal of their old overhead utility wiring from the poles next week.

Fairpoint

Overall, we are nearing the completion of the overhead utility work. Some existing poles have all the old utility wires removed. Soon, the poles themselves will be removed. Consolidated Communications working on Gray Road north of Mountain Road on Wednesday, July 2nd.
