Welcome & Highlights

Welcome to our sixth Vision & Values dedicated special issue of The Falmouth Focus. This newsletter will run every other Friday (in between regular editions of The Falmouth Focus) and focus exclusively on Falmouth's Vision & Values project.

This edition of the newsletter includes an update on the Focus Group sessions that took place September 18-23, as well as the Vision and Values Think-Tank that will take place on November 6. We also encourage you to join the Vision & Values conversation via the online Discussion Boards that are now up and running.

Focus Groups

thank you

Thank You to Focus Group Participants!

Thank you to the approximate 104 residents, Town Council, and staff members who participated in the virtual Vision & Values Focus Groups that ran from September 18-23. Many of you attended several of the sessions and your thoughtful input was greatly appreciated! Watch for the session videos and synthesis papers to be posted to the project portal in the next couple of weeks.

Join the Conversation Online!

The 10 Discussion Boards are up and running on the project portal at https://lab2.future-iq.com/town-of-falmouth-vision-and-values-project/focus-groups/focus-group-discussion-boards/overview/. Now is the time for your thoughtful input as a community member. These discussion board topics directly correlate with the Focus Group virtual sessions that took place September 18-23 and include:

The Dicussion Boards provide in-depth background information on the complexities of each Focus Group topic. The conversations on these Discussion Boards are a great opportunity to reflect upon these issues in the comfort of your own home, hear what your neighbors are thinking, and engage with them in a dialogue about issues that are important to you and the future of Falmouth.

Think Tank

The Falmouth Vision & Values Think Tank will take place on Saturday, November 6, from 8:30am – 12:30pm. The Think Tank is a highly participatory workshop where we take all that we have learned from the Community Survey, Future Summits, Discussion Boards, and Focus Group sessions and pull it together into what Future iQ calls “future splitting questions,” which explore the impacts and consequences of a range of different future paths. Here possible scenarios for Falmouth’s future are examined and discussed as participants gather in small groups to really drill down on what they envision for Falmouth’s future and what ramifications, realities, and trade-offs will occur as a result of those choices. This is a crucial part of the Vision & Values process and we highly encourage residents to attend. The Think Tank will be held in a hybrid format with the option to attend either in-person at Falmouth High School or virtually. In-person attendance may be limited to accommodate adequate social distancing during the event. COVID related policies in effect for the Town and school facilities at the time of the Think Tank will also be in effect for this meeting. Stay tuned for additional details on registration!
