Summary
Order to approve a supplemental appropriation and transfer in the amount of $27,850 from Unassigned Fund Balance for the demolition of the abandoned brick house at the River Point Conservation Area property to include asbestos removal.

Description
The abandoned homestead at the River Point Conservation Area property has long been an attractive nuisance. Trespassers continue to vandalize the building and staff has seen evidence of smoking, drinking, and other illicit activities at the site which pose safety hazards and risks for all who otherwise enjoy the property. Staff has repeatedly had to board up broken windows and doors as well as post “no trespassing” signs. The building was assessed for hazardous materials and bids were solicited for asbestos removal. One was received from Bios Environmental for $5050.00. Three bids for demolition were received and ranged from $19,800.00 to $40,000.00. The bid will be awarded to the low bidder, A&A Excavating, pending Council approval of the appropriation. The amount requested for the supplemental appropriation includes:
Asbestos Removal $5050.00
Demolition $19,800.00
Contingency $3000.00
$27,850.00
