                                                           New Law- "Semi-Open" Primaries

    2024 mark's the beginning of Maine's shift to Semi-Open Primaries. If someone is enrolled in a specific party, they may only vote in that party's primary. If someone is unenrolled (has no party affiliation), then they can vote in any ONE party's primary of their choice. This applies to the Presidential and State Primaries.

       Absentee Voting begins February 5, 2024. (30 days prior to the election)

                  A.  REQUESTING AN ABSENTEE BALLOT 

1.Phone:        Contacting the Clerks Department at 699-5320   

2.Electronic:   Requesting it online through the Maine Absentee Ballot Request Service

3.Written:       a. Visiting the Town Hall during regular business hours

                           (Monday 7-4:30 & Tues-Thurs 8:00am-4:30pm)

                       b. Printing the Absentee Ballot Request Form  HERE  and mailing to Clerks Department at Town Hall, 271 Falmouth Road, Falmouth Maine 04105

                       B.  BALLOT RETURN

All Ballots must be received by 8:00pm on Election Day, there are no exceptions. 

Ballot may be returned as follows;

1. Official Ballot Drop Box     There is an official ballot drop off box that you can deposit your ballot into at any time, it is located at the front of Town Hall to the left of the entrance 

2. Drop off In Person              Stop by the Clerk's Department at Town Hall during business hours:

                                               Monday 7:00am-4:30pm, Tuesday-Thursday, 8:00am-4:30pm

3.  Mail                                    Return ballot in the mail. Please allow enough time for us to receive the

                                                ballot by deadline of 8pm on Election day.

                                       Please note that ballots are NOT accepted by postmark dates

                                      All ballots received after 8 o'clock on election day must be Rejected

 ELECTION DAY VOTING

Polls are open on Election Day, at the Falmouth High School Gym, 74 Woodville Road, at 7:00am and close at 8:00pm.

No voting will take place at Town Hall on Election Day. Town Hall will be closed so staff can facilitate the elections at the polling place. Voters are asked to follow all COVID-related health and safety procedures put into place at the polls as recommended by the CDC and Secretary of State at the time of the election
