Hope Cahan was elected to the Town Council in 2018. After spending 20 years in Silicon Valley, she and her husband moved to Falmouth to raise their family. They have 2 children in the Falmouth Schools. Hope is a graduate from the University of South Florida with a Bachelor’s degree in English Education.
As Councilor, Hope serves on the Ordinance Committee, Retail Marijuana Committee, Community Development Committee, and as liaison to the Recycling and Energy Advisory Committee. Hope is also Vice Chair of the Metro Bus Board of Directors, Vice Chair of the Portland Area Comprehensive Transportation System (PACTS) Policy Committee, and sits on the Greater Portland Council of Governments (GPCOG) General Assembly and Regional Voice Committee, and the Maine Municipal Association’s (MMA) Legislative Policy Committee.
Outside of the Council, Hope is a Public Policy Consultant for Sustainability and Transportation issues. She has also worked on the issues of City Planning, Parks, Public Safety, Air Quality, Human Trafficking Prevention, Domestic Violence Prevention, Education, Gender Equities, Community Engagement and Tax Measure Spending Oversight.
In her free time, Hope is an outdoor enthusiast who loves anything on or near the water, skiing, and hiking with her family.
