Summary

Description
Cianbro has requested that the Council give consideration for an amendment to the sign provisions that would permit off-premise free-standing signs in instances where multiple properties share access. The current ordinance prohibits off-premise signs in all instances except for the V1 and V2 Districts where free standing signs are allowed only at the entrance to a business, whether on or off premise. Staff have made a cursory review of the ordinance and feel confident that if the Council chooses to entertain an amendment for other mixed use or commercial districts, a viable solution can be developed that will serve the town’s interest in providing adequate visibility for the business community and protecting the town’s visual character.
