Summary
Order to authorize the Town Manager to execute a purchase and sale agreement to purchase a portion of a parcel of land, and other property rights, located on Woodville Road, comprising approximately 1.5 acre, referred to on Town Tax Map R03-020 for $30,000.00, subject to the condition that dogs, motorized vehicles, and mountain bikes will be prohibited and to further authorize the Town Manager to execute all other necessary documentation to legally acquire the property and other property rights should all conditions of the purchase and sale agreement be met in the best interest of the town.
A public comment period will be included with this item (3 minutes).
ACTION: Council action is anticipated.
Description
The Town Council authorized the purchase of this property (3 acres) at its meeting on August 22, 2016. There was misunderstanding between the town and the proposed seller. The correct amount of property that will be part of the sale should be 1.5 acres rather than 3 acres.
This parcel is located adjacent to the East Branch Conservation Area, which is only accessible by canoe or kayak. This purchase adds additional riparian and upland habitat to our existing holding and, more importantly, will provide public access to the East Branch Conservation Area by making it possible to construct a trail into the parcel.
