Summary

Order to approve a supplemental appropriation and transfer of $30,000 from unassigned fund balance to pave a portion of Route 100.

Description

The Town and State are planning a reconstruction project on Gray Road, which is tentatively scheduled to be advertised for bidding in late October of 2018. While normally, staff would not recommend expending money in advance of such a project, a certain portion of Gray Road is in very poor condition and will only continue to deteriorate. Last winter, the Town received numerous complaints about the condition of the road. Town resources were spent on attempting to maintain the road as best as possible and the Town also received two insurance claims for motor vehicle damages caused by potholes on Gray Road.

Staff are proposing to place a thin coat of pavement on the segment of road to make it safer for travel and easier and less expensive to maintain over the winter.
