At the August, 27, 2018 Town Council meeting, Staff provided an update on regional efforts to combat the Browntail Moth infestation and the Council approved a resolution requesting the State declare a public health nuisance. Materials from that meeting are available at this link: click here.

As part of that regional effort, public information meetings were held this fall in both Falmouth and Freeport with good attendance at both.

While representatives from impacted communities continue to work on long-term solutions, it is also necessary to discuss short-term treatment plans for the upcoming treatment season in Falmouth. At this meeting, staff will provide an update on current treatment options. If the Council chooses to support a spraying program again this year, staff will need to research costs and return to the Council with a request for a supplemental appropriation.
