Update Regarding Town Facility Closures, March 16, 2020

We have mentioned our priorities in past updates that help guide decisions related to Town of Falmouth operations at this time. These priorities remain unchanged and include the following:

  • The safety of our residents, especially the seniors in our community and those residents with underlying health issues which make them particularly vulnerable to illness.
  • Implementing “social distancing” policies and practices as recommended by the U.S. CDC. Social distancing involves limiting mass gatherings, not congregating in large groups, and maintaining distance from others to limit the ability of the virus to spread.
  • Maintaining a healthy work environment for our first responders and front-line employees, so they can perform their critical duties and continue to serve and protect our community.

The number of confirmed cases of COVID-19 in our area is increasing. This, combined with our priorities listed above, is why we have decided to keep the Town Hall and Public Works buildings closed through March 27.  We will continue to develop plans to allow residents to continue to receive services from these locations and will provide an update in the near future. Please note, most services offered at Town Hall can be completed online. Please call Town Hall at 207-781-5253 or Public Works at 207-781-3919 if you have any questions.

In addition, we are closing the Transfer Station through March 28 effective immediately. Curbside pick up will still occur. Previous closure announcements regarding other facilities remain unchanged.  Find an updated list of closures and cancellations here

As noted in previous updates, this is a rapidly evolving situation. The Falmouth Emergency Management Team is closely monitoring the situation. We will continue to provide regular updates to the community through E-Alerts, social media, and our Emergency Management webpage.
