Summary

Order to amend the previously approved memorandum of understanding (MOU) between the Town and the Library, dated September, 2016, changing the required date for the Library to report to the Town Manger on its fundraising efforts.

A public comment period will be included with this item (3 minutes).

ACTION: Council action is anticipated.

Description

The Falmouth Memorial Library is in the final days of its capital campaign to fund the planned renovation and expansion of its facilities.  Their fundraising deadline is December 31, 2017. They anticipate donations and pledges to be received up until the final day of fundraising, and are requesting extra time to report to the Town the results of the campaign. 

As currently drafted, the reporting requirement states that "On or before December 31, 2017 (the “Fundraising Deadline”), and prior to execution of a construction contract for the Library Project, the Library shall submit for approval by the Town Manager documentary support, in form and substance satisfactory to the Town Manager in his sole discretion, that the Library has met its fundraising commitment..."

The proposed amendment would not exend the fundraising deadline, but would allow the Library additional time to generate the required report to the Town Manager. A letter from the Libary Board of Trustees and a copy of the MOU with the proposed change are attached.
