Summary

Introduction of amendments to Section 19-19 of the Code of Ordinances and to the West Falmouth Crossing Master Development Plan in order to allow private schools as a conditional use at one of the development sites in the West Falmouth Crossing Master Planned Development District.

A public comment period will not be included with this item.

Description

At the February 22, 2021 Council meeting, the Council discussed a request from representatives of the Windsor Hill Primary School to make a text amendment to the zoning ordinance to allow private schools as a permitted land use in the West Falmouth Crossing Master Planned Development District. (Hereinafter referred to as “West Falmouth Crossing”)  

The amendment request was made under the ordinance amendment application process adopted by the Council in November 2020.

At the February 22 Council meeting, the Council expressed a willingness to consider an amendment that would allow private schools as a conditional use in West Falmouth Crossing at only the specific development site at 46 Leighton Road. In order to effectuate this outcome, an amendment to the Zoning Ordinance’s use table for West Falmouth Crossing will be required as well as an amendment to the West Falmouth Crossing Master Plan.

  • The application package previously submitted for the February 22 Council meeting by the requestors of the ordinance amendment;
  • An amendment introduction letter from Councilor Asherman;
  • The Town’s Zoning Map;
  • Draft amendment to the West Falmouth Crossing Master Development Plan labeling the development site in question as a private school; and
  • Draft amendment to the West Falmouth Crossing use table adding private schools as a conditional use.
