Falmouth Fire-EMS responds to nearly 2,300 emergencies each year. We are a combination Fire-EMS department made up fulltime, part-time (per diem) and on-call firefighters and EMS providers.  We staff an Ambulance and Engine at Central Fire Station on Bucknam Road 24x7 and an Engine at the West Station on Winn Road 24x7.  All of our paid staff are cross-trained in firefighting and EMS.  Fire-EMS Headquarters is located at Central Fire Station at 8 Bucknam Road and is staffed during normal business hours Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m.. to 4:30 p.m. with the Fire Chief, Assistant Chief, Deputy Chief of EMA & Operations, Lieutenant of Prevention, Training and Outreach, an Office Administrator and an Administrative Assistant. In addition to our 32 fulltime and 12 part-time FF/EMS working 24-hour rotating schedules, we rely heavily on our dedicated staff of 30 on-call personnel to respond to emergencies and help staff our apparatus.

Falmouth Fire-EMS provides emergency services from three stations. Central Station on Bucknam Road is staffed 24x7 with a Lieutenant and 4 firefighter / EMS providers.  Our West Station, or Station 4, is on Winn Road is staffed 24x7 with a Lieutenant and 2 firefighter / EMS providers.  Emergency Medical Services makes up the majority of our calls, and our three ambulances combine to run over 1,400 medical calls each year.  Ambulance 2 at Central Station is our primary ambulance but when it is out on calls, the crew at the West Station will staff Ambulance 4 as the 2nd ambulance out, and the crew at Central will staff Ambulance 3 as our 3rd ambulance out.  It is not uncommon for 2 or even all 3 of our ambulances to be on calls at the same time.  Our crews also provide EMS stand-by coverage at numerous events each year including soccer tournaments, professional golf tournaments, high school and middle school football games, cross country meets, track meets, hockey games, lacrosse tournaments, and the Maine Marathon.  Our crews also conduct several prevention and public education programs throughout the year including CPR, first aid, fire extinguisher selection and use, and building evacuation training.  We assist many businesses and group in town in developing and testing emergency operations plans as well.

Falmouth Fire-EMS has been proudly serving the Town of Falmouth since the Foreside Fire Company responded to its first fire call in 1913.  Joined soon by the Central Fire Company in 1922, the Pleasant Hill Fire Company in 1923 and lastly the West Falmouth Fire Company in 1925, our members have provided continuous service to the Town for over 100 years.  The members of today continue the tradition of taking great pride in providing outstanding customer service to our community and we look forward to our next 100 years.
