Child Passenger Safety

Falmouth Fire-EMS Car Seat Installations

According to the Maine Bureau of Highway Safety- Upwards of 3 out of every 4 children in child restraints are not properly secured, some not restrained at all. At Falmouth Fire-EMS, we are dedicated to reducing the risk of injury due to improper installment of child car seats by assisting families and caregivers with the proper installation and education on how to safely transport their children.  Our Certified Child Passenger Safety Technicians (CCPST) are trained to help you keep your children safe when riding in your vehicle.

We have a limited amount of CCPST’s within our department and they are not always here every day.  We ask you to follow these guidelines when you have a car seat that needs to be installed:

  • Call ahead.  Appointments are STRONGLY encouraged as our staff are also responding to emergencies.  By scheduling your appointment ahead, we can ensure that our emergency calls are covered as well as your car seat installation is completed.  We will do our best to accommodate walk-ins, but we cannot guarantee a CCPST will be available as they may be on an emergency call or not on shift that day.
  • Car seat installations are available Monday-Friday (except holidays) from 8 am to 4 pm.  Please call 207-781-2610 to schedule yours.
  • These appointments are one hour long.  Please understand that properly installing the car seat takes time as all vehicles and seats are different and we also educate you on how to safely transport the child.

Along with your car seat, please bring your car seat instruction manual and your vehicle owner’s manual with you to the appointment.
